‘Transparent Collective’ is a layered exploration of identity and personal evolution, rooted in my own lived experiences and the generational shifts I continue to navigate as a First Nations man. Using oil paint to build visual strata, each piece embodies the transitions, trials and quiet revelations that shape an individual—both personally and through the lineage they inherit. As I work to break cycles of intergenerational trauma, these paintings serve as both witness and offering, inviting viewers to look beyond surfaces and recognise the complex, often invisible processes that make us who we are. Though deeply personal, this body of work speaks to a collective experience—transparent yet universal.

Some words from the Artist on this piece;
The work is an homage to a piece by Van Gough called "Boots" , one of my favourite pieces. He paints the boots in this piece as if they are a portrait. This piece is often exalted as an ode to the working class but I see it more as a story. The boots in my piece were gifted to me by Stu, the singer of the band "King Gizzard and the Lizzard Wizard. Stu wore these boots for a decade on stage with the band, I felt the character and story of that and of course, I asked to paint them. There is something that represents both the hard work and creativity of the band in something like a shoe that is so simple but so necessary. Paired with the dingo skull as an Australian memento mori and the glittering bust of Apollo, the work asks the audience to project a story as a modern day vanitas.

‘Desert Island Dawn’ - Jamie Preisz
91.5 x 91.5cm
Oil on canvas
Made on his recent residency in Portugal, Jamie explores an unconventional blend of Still life and landscape within each work approaching themes of deterioration and consumption in a classical style with a contemporary twist.
The work can be viewed as a series of “islands” in which the objects represent different stages of decay. The beginning of the painted pieces is a vibrant blue where the fruit depicted is ripe and the still life subjects are bright and shiny. As the series progresses the fruit starts to rot and the surrounding objects deteriorate. The clouds in the backgrounds of the pieces are a direct reference to the Portuguese sunsets and offer a sense of atmospheric scale.

Joy Kinna / Artist Statement ‘On Second Thought’
This body of work explores life as an ongoing game of trial and error, much like the practice of being an artist. The canvas becomes your playing field, and each mark is a test of what works and what doesn’t. If you aren’t willing to play, you rarely discover anything new. The same is true in life - discovery happens when we allow ourselves to experiment, to take risks, and to find excitement in the process.

Kane Lehanneur is an emerging, multidisciplinary artist who works across painting, printmaking, photography and moving image. Utilising these mediums, Lehanneur engages with the complex and multidimensional spaces that connect physical and meta-physical worlds. The artist’s practice reflects this through a deep exploration of both the self and the realms of the afterlife. Based upon un-ceded Gayemegal land in Sydney’s north, Kane’s background in design, photography and videography is revealed through a strong discernment of colour, composition, balance, and texture studies.

‘Organised Chaos’ -
In “Organised Chaos,” we delve into the intricate rhythms and hidden harmonies of nature. What may seems chaotic on the surface is, in fact, a delicate orchestration—a dance of flora and fauna, each contributing to the grand mosaic of the ecosystem. From the microscopic to the cosmic, Organised Chaos reveals the principles of order and flow permeate all scales of existence.
Through these artworks, we invite you to explore the symbiotic relationships that underpin life and challenge the notion of organisation as merely a personal journey. Instead, consider how we, too, are part of a larger, interconnected web where every element plays a role in the beautiful, dynamic chaos of our world - reflect whether your own sense of order aligns with the broader, collective rhythm of life.

Silk is a beautiful yet delicate fabric, it naturally allows light to pass through and has a degree of transparency. Please note for works of this scale, a central support bar is required within the stretcher frame to ensure the silk can be properly stretched and supported. As a result, the stretcher bars are subtly visible behind the artwork.

‘Poet Poet White Daffodil’ -
I've been thinking of this body of work as a curation of antipodean daydreams, drifting in and out of focus, meandering quietly, and rhythmically exploring a palpable sense of longing. Each artwork is a narrative, glimpsed through marks - both slow and hurried, that speak to the soft slow burn of an urge to lose ones self to memories and moments, both real and desired. Each work carries a sound, a scent, a knowing of the exact way a terracotta tile felt underfoot, the grain of the linen tablecloth as our fingers reached for a wine glass, the sensation of foliage brushing against our bodies and soft scented flowers guiding our meandering through villa gardens, the sound of the wind cracking through a sail on waters of Aegean blue...

‘THOUGHTS OF FEASTS’ -
For her upcoming show, Phoebe Stone created works whilst musing on the idea of a ‘feast’. What shapes they take, what emotions they evoke. The word ‘Feast’ can make us automatically think of a table draped in linen, laden with food and drinks, beautiful serving wear, glowing candles… but there are also those times when a simple slice of bread with some butter feels like an absolute feast.
A fresh crisp apple picked straight from the tree!! We often speak of visual feats, feasts for the senses - those moments when your eye catches a beautiful arrangement of flowers and it takes your breath away, or to look out and see the beauty of the ocean and to feel nourished. Conversations with family and friends, often over a meal, at a table; feasts for the mind. These works explore feasts in all their forms and in all the ways they can sustain both mind and body.

My house is haunted and
I’m trapped inside
Staring down empty corridors
Water’s like glass
They tell me it’s all in my head
As I watch the sky tear open and
The river turn to black.

————————————
I sit by the water
And let time disappear.
I watch the tall grass dance
I lie on the forest floor
I fall into the wind
I let the river hold me
I admit my fears to the trees
I trust in the tides
I recall nature’s song
I cry from the mountain top
I let the wind tangle my hair
I kiss the rain
I dive deeper
I listen to the silence.

I saw the stars too.
